Looks like I might be able to cancel via email. Tried to blow my skirt up about how it was really a factory warranty. Bullshit.

I work at an Automotive Electrical shop. We get late model cars in weekly that have ECU's, ECM's, Blower motors, ETC...that went bad. I went for the extended warranty from Toyota. Ya I could do the work myself, but for the time and BIG money of replacement parts, I'll let the Toyota Techs do the work.

Can you buy the "extended warranty from Toyota" right before the factory 3 year warranty runs out?

I believe so, have to ask the dealer or try Toyota.com or something like that.

Yes, that's exactly what I did on my used 2017. You just have to buy it before the 36 months OR 36k miles runs out.

Yes, having a piece mind until 6 years/100k for $1095 is a small price for me. To each their own though. With all the new techy gizmos, it’s just more stuff to break and need replacing. I waited to buy my warranty until right before I hit 36k miles. I used all that time to take my time shopping around the state to find the best deal. My local dealer wanted $2800 for the same warranty I got for $1095.

New generation, sure. Tacoma in 2018 added the adaptive cruise, in that case, maybe, that's a lot for a mid-gen toss in. But, anything that's not the first couple years, or a heavy refresh, nope. That's why I paid premium for the toyota reliability, otherwise I'd have paid a lot less, gotten a ford with a warranty :)

Take the money you would spend on the warranty and put away as an emergency repair fund. I used to work at a Toyota dealer and I can promise those are not designed to save you money. I don’t mean to insult anyone but I have to say it in simple terms- extended warranties are for suckers.

There's lots of post where people have used their warranty once or twice and saved them big time and if you put the one or two thousand back like you say it might not be near enough .

people often like to justify their purchases. At the warranty table with the dealer he was quoting absolutely ridiculous numbers for repairs. Thats part of the trick, they tell you this repair will cost $$$ when in reality it cost $. People that come out on the better end of the deal have a major problem with their car thats 1 out of 10k people. so on average its not a good buy (but for some reason i dont think you understand that)

My warranty is $48 a year for 6 years and that gets me a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty with a $250 deductible which I think is great so kiss my ass .

Wow, some people are very passionate about extended warranties

I asked the finance guy at the dealership if he was selling me such a pos that I needed to drop another $1000 on special insurance.

Take your money and drop it in a slot machine but remember, the house always wins.
