Non-ethanol gas is around for older yard tools and the like (and maybe some old classic cars) that had plastic and rubber parts that don't play well with ethanol. Cars nowadays are designed for it and even gas powered small engine tools etc. are made to handle it. Paying that much more to run non-ethanol in your modern Tacoma is simply paranoia.

Non ethanol gas is for older engines? Funny all the new cars down here in Argentina use non ethanol because there is no ethanol. American scam at its finest.

I put non-ethanol (midgrade 89) gasoline in my personal 2023 TRD OffRoad, no problems. Also, use non-ethanol in my personal weedwacker, to help mow my lawn.:D

They have used ethanol in gasoline since at least WW-2. They used it for the same reason in the 1940's as today. 10% ethanol and 90% gasoline helps stretch resources a little further and reduces costs to consumers. Any loss of performance is negligible.

If you're still driving a car that is 50+ years old, then over time the ethanol could damage rubber gaskets. If you're driving a 50 year old car most of those gaskets have probably already been replaced. Same with gas powered small engines.

It is only available in a few places locally. I've never used it in any of my lawn mowers, generators, ATV's, boats, etc. Never had a single issue with 10% Ethanol gas in them.

I tried it once in my truck. Performance declined and fuel mileage on that tank were worse than normal. I'm only guessing that it was because the gas must have been old. Nobody buys that gas, and it sits in the storage tanks and goes bad. Even if it did improve fuel mileage, I'd burn more gas driving out of the way to find it than I'd save with a small increase in fuel mileage.

I've been using Non Ethanol since buying truck new with 4 miles on it..it has 14,788 on it right now...my truck sits for a week sometimes without driving it.

Non Ethanol is available all around me..I usually get it at Weigels convenient store $ 3.59 per gallon for 87% and $3.89 for 91%.

    My intake is gum free!!!

I rarely drove when I first got the truck and at times it would sit for months without being driven so I used non-ethanol.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
We have E0 midgrade available locally and that's what I get. My truck definitely runs better and does get better mileage than with 87. Is there enough gain to justify the added cost? No, but the extra cost per tank isn't a big deal. I treat her for doing so well on the trails.

You guys have ethanol in your gas?
I guess add me to the list of people bragging about running ethanol free for whatever reason…

Can't hide money. Although it's technically better than running premium, and more people do that, I think.

here there is no one checking the amount of ethanol that is dumped into the gas. A local station have
ethanol free 87 octane and everyone uses it for their yard tools, chainsaws etc. It helps to run a tank
every now and then just because you don't know what you are getting for a mix.

Where I live, non-ethanol gas can be anywhere from 75 cents to a buck more than 10% ethanol 87 octane. It gets at worst 5% mileage loss compare to non-ethanol. So per mile it is still significantly cheaper.

What we can say with (almost) certainty, is that ethanol in gas makes some farmers happy.

Uh, I don't know where you're buying gas, but if your "up to 10% ethanol" has more than 10% ethanol in it, that would be illegal. Would be a fun news story if you were able to back up this claim.

That's like comparing original pure cane sugar coke to the modern high fructose corn syrup formula.
They are both sweet and have caffeine but one has cheaper ingredients.

YMMV especially if the gas is at a crappy gas station that people don't fill up with E0, poor fuel.

    I personally feel more response

I don't believe ethanol was used in gasoline during WW2. We had plenty of oil and cars of that age wouldn't have tolerated the alcohol.
