Is there a navigation system in the truck already or do you have to "cast" one from the phone that's linked to the truck?

So, through the interwebs I've been and can't find a simple answer to this one. I can get waze to work on the Tacoma's infotainment screen if I plug his iPhone in with the USB port but couldn't find any sign of navigation through just the truck.
Owner's manual starts with the premise that you are looking at a navigation screen.

His window sticker says nothing about nav or any premium infotainment related systems.

Went down the rabbit hole on several threads about which version of entune(?) is best and only succeeded in getting lost in the weeds.

What does the head unit look like, can we get a pic of it?

    Oh look, another mod....
See the button that says "Map"? If you have this on your head unit, then you have GPS.

You could try punching in the VIN here and seeing what comes up.

All depends on head unit/options as others mentioned. Two types - connective (through phone) or integrated (built-in) My 18 sport has integrated.

If memory serves 2020 is one of the first years where Toyota started putting in car play and phasing out nav. The idea (and I sort of agree) is that integrated nav gets outdated after maybe two years, whereas carplay will always be current.

Edit: based on your picture, you have the newer unit with carplay. So no onboard nav.

For the sport it may be listed in port or factory installed options.

Okay, so I'm not quite as dopey as I thought. I was having flashbacks to showing my folks how to work the vcr and thought I was going to have to find some whiney college grad with a degree in interpretive lesbian dance to help me.

It says Android Auto & Apple Carplay compatible. So that's what it has. Use your phone to connect either Android or Apple. You will have to download the appropriate app on the phone.

Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
There is NO NAV on that head unit. You have to rely on Carplay or Android Auto. I have the same head unit because I didn't get (or want) te Premium JBL system which is the next step up from our HU. It's all very confusing at first the way it's presented. I was a bit surprised there was no base maps of any sort. Google Maps is what I use through AA and I also have GAIA which allows you to download mapping that now interfaces with AA. It can be used even off the grid if you do not have cell coverage.

I'm pretty sure audio plus does not have navigation.

But you can also try this:
    1. Press the [Menu] button on the headunit
    2. Tap on "Settings"
    3. Tap on "General"
    4. Scroll down and tap on "Software Update"
If you have navigation you'll see Audio and Navigation, along with their versions. No nav will only show audio.

That is incorrect. Onboard nav is an option that comes with the premium packages.

This is incorrect. The button only works if the phone is connected on mine.

I have a 2020 Pro with Android Auto/Apple Play capability. It also has nav built into it so you can use either. In the pic above (which looks exactly like mine), if you press the Map button on the left hand side, it pulls up the built in navigation. To use Android/Apple your phone has to be plugged into the USB port and it casts from your phone to the Entune screen.

My 2021 has the advanced tech package and premium audio (non-JBL) which comes with the dynamic navigation built in.
