Some of this Some of that
Im very happy with 35%.. Had it measured by a meter and it read @ 31%.. Tinting your windshield seems like a liability/ not safe at night

I went with 35% on the front ... Virginia legal is 50% (cough ... cough) ... but I'm a young 60 and not "stupid" by drawing attention to myself so things are cool.

I wouldn't want to go any darker than 35% so I can actually see something at night.. Only reason I want it on my windshield is because I keep my truck outside 100% of the time. Yes its Washington but we occasionally do get some sun and I don't want my dash cracking/fading.

The reason I ask about filling a chip is because last time I had one filled the guy used some kind of heat gun from the inside to get the stuff to set faster (I think?) no matter he used a heat gun from the inside..

I have 5% all the way around on top of whatever the factory tint was, except for the front windshield. I love having my truck tinted out. Keeps the sun off, the temp inside down, and people from peering in. One of the first mods I did. Best buy will peel your windows for free if they did the install and if you get a fix it ticket. At least here in SoCal they will.

    - driving at the speed limit
    - not blasting hip-hop out of my speakers
    - driving in a responsible manner ... i.e. ... no jack rabbit starts

It has worked fairly well ... last ticket May '79 ...

I just tinted the rear in limo, looks like the sides are done too but they're not. Not a fan of doing the sides as the cops like to use that as an excuse to pull you over around here. That and after awhile I've always had problems with the edges peeling from the window being rolled up and down.

Do people even drive in the Ghetto? Most people have no concept or idea what a real ghetto looks like. Therefore I cannot picture the slightest of how tint on a Tacoma of all things could look ghetto?

I can't imagine tinting the windshield, but the side windows; hell yeah!

Keeps the car cooler, keeps your shit out of view from would be thieves, looks boss... what's not to like? It would only be ghetto if the rest of your ride resembled the 'rolling on 28s' car someone else linked.

I do have to roll my side windows down to back into my garage at night, though... 20% is dark!

Mostly they ride bicycles, walk (strut?), or roll dirty in 1987 Nissan Sentras.

If I lived in the deep south of the US the first mod I would make would be to tint my windows. Summer heat down there are fricking unbearable. I live way up north where there is no need for it(unless you want to give the cops a reason to pull you over).

If your truck looks ghetto it will enhance the ghetto.

If it looks nice it will enhance the nice.

There are examples of both on TW.

Anything darker than 50 on the windshield is dangerous at night. I do 50 on windshields all day. 20 is the most common shade I do.

Or you could be forcing them to break in to see if there is something worth stealing. I like tinted Windows, but that's something to think about.
