Just curious, had my oil changed and tires rotated at the dealership,I forgot to leave my wheel lock key out.I asked when I picked up my truck if my tires were rotated, and they said, yes. I said ok, because I forgot to leave my wheel lock key. They said the techs all have their own wheel lock keys, is this true, or a lie?

Really? Wow, thought it was a lie, there must be a bunch of different combination keys, do they try them all until they get the right one?

Won't garuntee it's the truth but I'd guess so. Those "locking" lug nuts are a joke.... Unless you've made some kind of alteration to it so that the lock part is custom then there's usually only about 10 er so different shapes that they use and sense everyone's getting the locking lugs, everyone has the key....

I don't think there's that many combinations if you get the Toyota ones. I watched them rotate my tires without using my key from inside the truck, so they definitely have their own sets.

Each make has their own master set. Ford's master set wouldn't work for Toyotas etc. And yes the lock sets are a joke. I take them off customers cars all the time when they've lost their key.

I'm a tech for a dealership and I have my own. Keeps customers from saying I went through there belongings and from keeping them from blaming me for misplacing their wheel lock key

Plan on thieving some wheels? J/k. I tap a special socket on to the nut, it basically 'bites' onto it. Then I use a breaker bar and loosen it off.

They have to have their own keys, since most people don't keep them in the truck or remember where they are at all.

They keep common thieves from steeling your wheels. Nothing is full proof, if someone really wants your stuff, they'll get it. Makes it a little more difficult though.

Easiest way to take these off without the key is tighten the other lugs that aren't keyed.... That'll force the wheel inwards and untighten the keyed lug which will allow you to unscrew it very easily with your fingers

That's genius, but I wouldn't do it to my own truck unless absolutely desperate. Still I now have the urge to blow some buddy's mind or maybe bet some beer!

My dealership has to use mine. They forgot to put it back this time and I had to go back which meant going through the toll.
