Does it make sense to go with the TRD O/R?

So I'm planning on my first Tacoma and my argument is...
Does it make sense to get the TRD off road package if I like the look of the Sport more? I will do the OME 3" lift and wheels and tires, so the ones that come with the OR package are obsolete. To me it looks like the only thing I'll be paying for in the OR package that i actually want is the locking rear diff, skid plate, and front tow hook since all the other goodies come on the Sport version as well. I'm I correct in thinking this? If the OR had the color keyed grill and bumper and hood it'd be exactly what I was looking for.

Lots of people trail with the Sport w/o problems, you just need to pick your lines better since you don't have a locker to bail you out.

If you like the hood scoop, then you can swap a hood and put it on the OR. Perhaps there are other ways to get the scoop as well. I don't know if that's the only cosmetic difference. I personally don't like the scoop but, that's just me. I like having the locker in case it's ever needed. So, I vote for the OR. Also, I find the OR nice, quiet and smooth on the road.

If you are looking at 09 or newer Taco you also get A-Trac in addition to the the rear locker. No question about Off Road for sure unless you like fake hood scoops.

I bet you wouldn't say that if you had the horrible SR5 seats.

you can buy the skid plate and put on the sport. you could always add the locker later on if you decide you need it.

I would get the sport and add an ARB locker/s. The skid plates on both the sport and off road are a joke. For example, the off road has a plastic fuel skid. That's great, if you wheel on your lawn.

Just get the sport and add an arb locker. That way you'll get eveything you want. And the arb locker now runs under $900.

    I like my SR5 seats...

I didn't go with the offroad because I wanted to spend the extra on a lift, tires, etc.... although the locker would be nice, I can make due without it.

No front sway bar (does that count?)
Or just buy the sport and add a bumper/winch. A rear locker won't get you out of every situation. :D
