So I just tried a coupla things ... for SCIENCE!

    - It's -4C here, and the truck has been sitting outdoors for at least 6hrs.
    - My truck is an OR M/T, and has dual zone climate control (like I need that in an access cab lol).

Anyway, if there is a "Quick Heater" in mine, it doesn't operate with key "ON" and engine not running. Tried several HVAC settings with the temp on "HI" and got noting but ice cold air (after 3-4 minutes). I did this to eliminate any other possibilities of heat being generated - alas, it was not to be.

Started the engine up, and after about 2-3 minutes at idle I was getting warm air from the vents. Temp was still set at "HI", recirc on, blower at medium.

Now, I get that the engine running with the T-Stat closed COULD be giving some heat, but that seemed fast to me.. anyway, I could track down the PTC heater relay under the hood and see exactly what conditions cause it to energize.. but fuck that it's chilly out.

Turn the temperature to maximum heat. Turn the fan on...I use the lowest fan setting for about a minute. The electric element is like a toaster oven and takes a minute to warm up.
