Does it take more skill to drive a LB?

I drove a full size for years in Los Angeles. I damn sure can drive and park a "long bed" midsized. Doesn't mean I want to though!

Try a crew cab long bed dually.

 

Now that I have a DCLB I'm glad they are harder to find. Nothing better to make my DCSB brethren extremely jealous.

Then again, I drive 36ft long fire trucks for a living.

No. But my first truck was a well used '59 Chevy 3/4 ton long bed, manual steering/brakes, floor starter, drive shaft clamp ebrake, 4:56 gears and a granny 1st 4spd. Luxury came in the form of an optional AM radio and heater.

It did have wing windows and floor vents. And turn signals and backup lights after pops and I added them. Early lighting mods so to speak.

So in comparison, any modern truck is girly grade driving.

But. These Tacomas have a lousy turning radius. Which does create the need to pay even more attention when backing other than a straight line.

My old Highlander is much more maneuverable.

It's difficult for about 3 seconds then you should realize you're in a truck. Otherwise buy a geo metro.
