Temp is 80/51 and meeting some friends for a cool night at 4k feet. I want to take my dog, but concerned about cholla cactus. Not too worried about barrel or other cactus, but chollas are demons. I've never camped here. Anyone know?

The exit is off S22 a mile east of Ranchita just before the drop into BS begins.

You'll probably have better luck asking this in the regional forum.

I saw an illustration of a grave marker at Stovepipe -- the epitaph said: "A victim of the elements." And history repeats itself.
