Alas I was installing an after market roof rack on mine and cross threaded/stripped the screws so it was leaking through the holes. Noticed my seat belts were getting soaked when it rained. So it was traveling through the frame downwards. Also the headliner was getting soaked right where the rack holes were. I'm thinking if I go the replace route it's going to be headliner + sound deadening pad. I have since glued up the holes and no more water is getting into the truck. This was about 2 months ago so it's bone dry in there, but smell still is lingering. Ozone machine I hope will knock it out.

Called the dealership and asked if it would be covered, they said no it wouldn't. Family friends with the sales manager and asked if there was anything he could fenagle to cover it under warranty. He said no, they just got audited by the corporate office and got slapped with a bunch of fines for doing things like this... He said you can go through your car insurance though, which would total less than just ordering/replacing the parts and paying for the labor. That will be my last resort, or just trade the thing in and get a new truck.

I will definitely try the sporicidin though, good looks.

If you need any advice let me know. Watch out for the side curtain airbags when removing the headliner, and take note about what I said before about the foam and sound deadening under the carpet.

If you still have musty smell put some ammonia in a Tupperware container uncovered at nite next day odors should be gone. Repeat as needed.

Looks like the ozone machine worked, I’ll be monitoring it of course but everyone who rides in the truck agrees for the past week no mold smell. The ozone smell was bad for a few days but it’s now normal. Seems like a good investment for the machine and I will keep for the future disasters that will inevitably happen.
