Does my 2016 Limited has a tow pacakge?

Thanks a lot, Ryan and LiveonEdge. I am quite angry with the rep -- he clearly know the hitch is not factory (the difference is quite clear), but keep emphasizing to me the hitch is, just not the harness.

I'd go and speak to the sales manager. And tell him you want the OEM package installed, like his piece of shit scum sucking salesman promised already was installed.

Let's give the salesman the benefit of the doubt... he's not "a piece of shit scum sucking salesman", maybe he's just an idiot salesperson who doesn't have a clue about what he's selling and makes it up as he goes along ... cause he's an idiot.

This too. My friend sold me my last Tacoma. He thought it had Entune 3.0 and remote start because he figured the Camrys already had it but he only made assumptions. Thankfully since I already had a 3rd gen prior I already knew exactly what the truck had up and down and just smiled and ignored him. Salesmen don't know anything, you have to do your own research.

 

Since we're playing fair, most buyers are too. If they weren't, the sales wouldn't be all that successful, 'cause the salesfolk would be getting called out all the time.

 

I don't know. I got to be honest. The dealer is 1 hr away, and I really just don't know whether they will do anything. I have nothing in writing -- they will just not admit ever said such a thing. Although on their ad (which I saved), they did say it has the tow package. But they may argue, they didn't say it is OEM tow package. Ahh...

 

My reaction when a salesman try's to sell me a truck

 

True... sadly. To me, researching stuff is prolly 80% of the fun of buying something.

 

THAT RIGHT THERE! I bought a G35 when I was younger, the ad had a stupidly low price. I challenged them during the sale and they admitted the mistake of putting the wrong car for the wrong ad for the price and I walked away right side up on a deal. If you have the ad, drive an hour and show it to them. Bait and switch is illegal.

 

It does not have a tow package. It has a hitch and some wires.

It's expensive and difficult to retrofit an OEM tow package, which is why it's not done.

The real question at this point is 'does it really matter'? As in what will you be towing, and does that require an actual tow package?

 

Can't have one without the other. On all 3rd gen V6's: if it came from the factory with a hitch, then it also came the factory with all the other tow package parts, wire harness, trans cooler (on autos), oil cooler, etc.

 

@FishSailor , I'm with Bill on this. Do you plan on towing, and if so, what?

 

Well show them the ad because your truck does not have a tow package. Adding a hitch and a wiring harness is very far from a complete towing package. Also there's a safety factor here. if you were to go tow a 6k pound trailer because they advertised it had an oem tow package and your vehicle fails that's a big ass issue. Because now your truck isn't rated for the 6500 or 7k. its rated way lower.

 

@FishSailor , based on your one photo I'd be more inclined to be spending time inspecting the frame for rust issues than fretting over the type of hitch.
