    I use my own driving skills to avoid doing that. No need to test how I won't hit a building.

    Yes, I'm sure you're an excellent driver.

    However the whole point of an auto braking system is to take effect when the human driver hasn't hit the brakes quickly enough. OP was asking about a way to test if the system was working.

    In most of those tests, the car stops with only a couple feet to spare. You seem awfully trusting of your reaction time that you'd be able to realize it wasn't working and still stop before an impact. That's the whole reason they use inflatable cars for those tests.

    Adaptive Cruise and the emergency braking are different functions - automatic braking/pedestrian collision alert is turned off in the cluster settings.

    Though as evidenced by you today, you should probably leave it on
