Does my evaporator core REALLY need replacement?

    A shop should be able to recover the refrigerant for you but they aren't gona flush it because you need the system dissembled to flush the components.

    It is a serviceable component, Toyota P/N is 8837704010 Four Seasons P/N 39340


    Yea I mean I'm not pulling a compressor to check for metal contamination and then putting it back on, if it's bad I'm replacing it.

    Some shops will quote worst case scenarios and adjust the price down if all parts aren't needed but it's hard to say, at least you didn't get a wallet flush from the dealer like one guy did a couple weeks ago. They told him it needed everything and charged him $6k to do it.
