Hello I just bought my first Tacoma on Halloween. 2021 Offroad with MT.

So I guess I have the basic audio. Nothing Premium listed on my window sticker. Does this mean I cannot have navigation? When I hit the Map button it says Navigation App is not installed.

Thanks in advance. I read both manuals that came with the truck and didn't see how I could have Nav.

Don’t 2021’s have CarPlay and Android Auto? Just use your favorite phone navigation app and it will be far better than Toyota nav.

You said you have an "offroad", so I am assuming you have a TRD OffRoad, and at least, they USED to come with built-in navigation on the TRD level. That is why I purchased a TRD because of builtin navigation. I don't know what a MAP button is, but on mine, there is a touch screen tab labeled Navigation.

I believe the Stock Navigation/Enture Maps only comes with the "Premium Offroad Package". You can plug your phone in and use apple/google/waze instead though

Apple carplay and android auto are way superior. Just about all relevant models of phones are compatible. Plug it into the USB outlet on the center console.

Google Maps on your phone trumps all of them. Apple isn't bad but Google is tops. Plug into the USB port under the AC controls and off you go. Charges your phone too.

I think navigation on the truck works off a satellite signal (so you get navigation anywhere) and on your phone it only works if you have a cell signal. Am I correct?

Waze on your phone is much better than the Toyota navigation system.

Depends on the app. Also, it sort of depends on the definition of navigation. There are a lot of offline maps/apps available. With those, and your location which is always available from the GPS satellite to the GPS receiver in your phone even when there is no cell signal, you should be able to navigate yourself. Not quite turn by turn, but good enough. Maps.me https://maps.me/ works with CarPlay, not sure about with Android Auto.

My '20 OR has navigation, but I have the Tech package. As far as it's usefulness, I've been very impressed by it. The couple of times I've used the turn-by-turn Nav it's worked well but what I really like is when I'm off-road on Forest-Service roads, the vast majority of them are shown, which is nice.

yes and if you live in places like I do, 5 miles out of town and Apple or Google maps is not available or if start with the route loaded and you have to restart, you get nothing. Doesn’t work when I am camping either. Why I down load Gaia area where I am going and use it with a BadElf or I use paper maps.

my 2020 with premium OffRoad has Navigation
