For the holes, silicone should be fine, or just get another short bolt and stick it in place to plug the holes. As for the front clip, the rubber channel sort of snaps onto the clips. Since the clips are gone, you may be able to either use extra double sided tape up front (you also us it in the back even though the rubber slips under the window molding), or glue a small block of plastic (such as acrylic) to the channel for the trim to sit on.

Thanks steel dude. I'm going to tackle it tonight and just tape the front down until I buy something tomorrow.

So after passing a RR, SB, SSM, and 2 BSP, I finally got home and removed the roof rack.

BTW, nobody waved back when I did a "lift the hand wave from the top of the steering wheel" type of wave. However, the last guy with a BSP truck did a "deer in the headlights" stare back at me.

    To continue:
    - rack came off easy and no scratches underneath
    - lots of dust and dirt got in underneath but nothing major
    - wiped channel clean and then filled the bolt holes and the surrounding area with silicone
    - started at the rear with glue on the foam tape strips to hold down the rubber at the bend
    - pushed the rubber down on the rear plastic clip
    - pushed the rubber down up to the front
    - used epoxy putty pressed around the notched plastic on the rubber channel, then pushed it down into epoxy where the front plastic clip should have been
    - used strong magnets to push down on the rubber to let the epoxy do its work

The rubber went in easily.. almost too easily. I hope it keeps the water out.
Maybe I should have used foam tape at the front. But everything was closed after work and I had to get it off tonight.
I shall find out soon enough.

    Below are a few pics.

No more metrosexual or Frontier fears for me!

    Cheers!

Keep the thing, and add an accessory to it. I had to get a Thule , because, Toyota does not offer the thing for a Access cab, believe it or not. I have bars going accross and added a goal post to my trailer hitch. When I have my canoe on top and out the back , it is cool as can be.

    Thanks for the link!
    Great price too.

Oh, yeah, I didn't really think about expansion and contraction issues.
Cruising along and the right side rubber channel popped off from the front and flipped over landing into the bed.
Luckily the sticky tape at the rear held it from flying away.

Anyways, now the front is fixed with epoxy and the rear slides in the original channel clip.
I left out the epoxy at the back which screwed me up.
    Hasn't been a problem since.

I voted to remove. I guess my question is....If you have a truck bed, why in the world would you need a roof rack? You are hauling so much s%$t that you need the extra room? Maybe you need a Tundra.

I also agree with an earlier post that it looks like a Nissan Frontier.

Obviously, I posted before I read the entire thread. I think it looks great without. Nice job, hopefully it doesn't turn into a huge hassle.
