I agree with @digitaLbraVo...you're better off matching the size...not the brand or as close to a full-size as possible for a spare.

The reason I say "as close to" a full-size spare is because you have seen those non-full-size spares for sedans. They are much smaller and thinner than the actual tires, and that is why they have large print saying not to drive for long periods of time and not to exceed 50 mph (or 80 kph). You'll be causing all sorts of damage if you keep it on for a long time and exceed the 50 mph limit.

Well, here goes.. Assuming you don't do alot of wheeling (most don't) and assuming you own and can use a plug kit and assuming you own an MV50 or any small cheap compressor, you really have no need for a spare at all. Tubeless tires rarely go flat. Unless you're wheeling seriously you won't puncture a tire. If you are wheeling seriously you won't be alone and chances are someone with you will loan you a spare. If you do get a flat you can simply fill it up with your comressor and drive somewhere to get it fixed, or.. I've always carried a few plugs with me, I'm far too lazy to actually change a tire without my floorjack and air tools.. Don't waste money on a spare..

Honestly, I don't know why people bother having a spare in this day and age. 40 years ago with tubed tires sure, but today's tires are exceptionally well made..

    Good luck..

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Man you make a lot of positive assumptions. I don't plan for the worst cause I know it won't happen. I plan for the worst cause when it decides to happen it is the worst.

You could run a 255/85-16 on your stock spare wheel. That would match pretty closely with your 285/17s and not hang down too far under the truck.

But finding that size here Oahu is almost impossible. Most guys here have to special order that size.

They do look awesome and function/perform well, though.
