Does my key for my 2009 Toyota Tacoma sr5 4-cylinder have a chip in it? Is there a way to tell?

    Thanks

Little red truck flashing on the dash that stops when you put the key in?

:) If your Taco is like my 12 with a 4 cylinder, then NO for the 4 cylinder and Yes for the V-6. Toyota gets cheap and deprives us of the theft protection feature to save a few bucks. The key of a 4 cylinder is shaped differently and is not as thick at the rubber part of the key as a 6 cylinder key is.
The upside of having a 4 cylinder key is that anyone can cut you a replacement that is cheap. A chipped key is expensive.

There is no blinking red light in my 4-cylinder so I guess I don't have a key with a chip. Yea cheap key replacement lol
