Not all stations are like that. I've had Sirius/XM since 2009. I only listen to a few stations though and the price just isn't worth it. That's why I was wondering if that XM radio was tied into the GPS being satellite and all or if it ran off of the HD radio / SD card for the maps.

When it first started there weren't commercials . Then they paid Howard Stern an exorbitant amount of money. You can guess what happened next. I like it for long drives but for day to day use it's kind of a waste because my drive to work and back is so short. I do like the comedy channels for longer drives. Now I will say, not every channel has commercials. They may have promotional spots for their own content. I am not a big fan of Howard Stern but I do like his celebrity interviews.

As I'm sure has already been answered but, trial service ended on its own in my case.

I hate the auto renew shit. I've noticed car magazines I subscribe to are moving the same direction.

I've subscribed to Motor Trend, Car & Driver, Road & Track, Automobile & Autoweek as long as I can remember. If they keep their bullshit up (including Sirius) I won't continue subscribing. I'm sure they don't care but, I'm not giving access to my credit card, debit card or checking to any type service to be charged for some unknown amount at some date in the future. Using the "800" number to cancel had proved unreliable in my experience.

What I've been doing is having the provider snail mail me a contract, I edit the auto renew portion & mail them a money order. I always get the "you agreed" conversation once that already paid service is over and I always enjoy telling them to read what they agreed to when the cashed the money order. But, it's becoming too much of a pain in my ass and isn't really worth the return of their service so...

When it first came out and really became popular in like 2000-2001 my dad had XM Radio put in all of the cars as a Christmas present. I think the deal was $6 a month for the first year. I think he paid for it for the next year, so we had it for 2 years and it stated to get more expensive so we told them to cancel it. We still have XM/Serious in one of the vehicles 15 years later. Never made another payment since the beginning. I have heard of a few times this has happened.

I had mine transfered to the truck the day after I bought it.

The trial period Is not tied to a credit card, so once it is over they drop the service.

They will fill your mailbox with half the Amazon rainforest worth of advertisements and offers for the next 3 to 5 years.

The latest offer I got is 6 months for $30. It does seem like most of their discount offers are for the XM Select package which isn't the same package that you get with your trial subscribtion, the Select doesn't include Howard Stern or the online app.

There is only commercials on the talk-radio stations. The music stations do not have commercials that I've found.

My sentiments exactly, it's why I asked if their service is necessary for the GPS and traffic on the nav in another thread. If it isn't necessary then after the three months I'm done. I remember back in 09 when I first had satellite radio you got an entire year free. It then went to 6 months, now it's at 3 months. What a joke.

I pay for Spotify Premium. I think it's about $9.95 per month. Love having all of that music on demand, ad free and much better than the limitations of the few lame genre radio stations on Sirius.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
I purchased an XM subscription for the last year on our TSX for $50 for the year. This is a slimmed down list of stations, but included #25, 36, and a few others we listen to.

I have been using the BT function in the Taco along with apple music which I may do instead of XM. Still on the 3 month honeymoon period so not sure.

Yeah, Pandora, Slacker, iHeart Radio, Apple music, Amazon Prime music, Spotify, the list goes on. There is zero reason to even use Satellite anymore. You can up your data plan on your cell phone for less and get the same results, assuming your carrier makes you pay for music streaming.

Once my trial was over they offered me 6 months for $30 which was worth it to me, however I'm not going to keep my subscription up after that. Not worth paying that much for radio.

YEah call them and negotiate. $185 a year is crazy expensive for commercial radio. My issue with them is the stations I listen to are not commercial free. I listen to a lot of 70's music but I have all the Time Life 70's music available on a USB stick as well as another 34GB of music..

Sirrus XM WANTS that credit card.IF one uses it and wants to cancel, one of the tricks is a month before renewal time ask your bank to cancel and issue a new one.

I have three vehicles that have it. The wife listens to the promotional music on Sirrus.LOL The Miata does not need it. I don't drive the Tacoma enough long distances to need it.

Joke's on them anyways since I carried the new radio on this truck over to my account when I had my corvette. I'm getting a new debit card from both of my banks with the new chip inside of them. New numbers and new security code. I'll still tell them I don't want it and when they try to tell me otherwise I'll tell them we will see how that works out for you.

Sirius is a great sevice if you drive a lot. If you are referring to pandora and slacker as free music content, not so much. The free service still has ads and they recycle the same damn songs over and over again.

As with anything in life you get what you pay for. I guess you can pay pandora and slacker, but at the end of the day it isnt much cheaper then sirius. Apples to apples, premium pandora/slacker are no where near as good as sirius when it comes to content.
