    Update:

During the first tune up, my mechanic had actually swapped the coils (1-2, 3-4) when he put the new spark plugs. And told me to watch out for misfires 2 and 3.

After doing the new code reading test, I only got code P0303 for misfire 3.

Which now would be only left to a compression check?

................????????? a special machine that will pump

    please explain

any detritus inhaled into the engine will get blown out or remain to an extent

if it Is apparent the intake needs cleaning usually requires inspection & reasonable disassembly
    to clean parts thoroughly

please name that ' machine pump ' and its function
sounds like its better than my girlfriend

if by some chance ( Not Ur fault ) conditions add up to ' pinging .....detonation ' (actually 2 very diff scenarios )

the ECU will retard spark ignition several degrees to avoid engine damage
wide open throttle......acceleration or better than the average load on the engine
will damage valves or lower end bearings

actual microphones are used to detect pings or detonation ( improper firing
the ECU is program to pull back 2-4 degrees of ignition until the pinging or detonations stop!

stale deficient octane gas or load grade + weight can be factors

    double check Ur tune up

Guys, just closing up this thread.

I followed all of your advices: checked all cylinders' compression, coils were working fine, no gas-leaks, even added a new battery.

Well, it turns out that the issue was among the ECU and some defected wiring. There was a wiring soaking up extra energy and therefore draining batteries way too quickly (the battery was indeed damage, so I replaced before), damaging the ECU and being the source of the random misfires. My other mechanic feels that this was the reason why they sold the tacoma in the first place because he found a junk-yard fuse box (it was marked).

He proceeded to reprograming and re-flashing the computer and the truck is working very well now. I repeatedly hit the speed where I was having the power issues. I have also run the truck about 500-700 miles and so far it is working great. It even feels much lighter and with more power.

    Thanks for your help.

Great news, maybe not about the previous owner's choices but you got a good running truck now. Enjoy.

you hit it... and it shuts down the gas. you slow down a bit, gas kicks back in. it's not all that exciting

Some governor systems cut the ignition but I believe most are designed to cut fuel.
If an engine has no governor, then the max RPM is decided by valve float or some other system "malfunction" lol.

If I remember correctly, the Japanese translation of “speed governor” is
    “Tew-Tí-Ahr”.

That could have something to do with it.

My '15 is about 112. But at that speed you cant tell its being cut off cause its not really accelerating.
