Does Tesla Already Have Over 200,000 Cybertruck Reservations?

It seems so, and that number could actually be much higher.
Last night's Tesla Cybertruck unveiling event was ... interesting. At this point, we are still somewhat speechless. We can only imagine how many media organizations and social media shares will point to the event as a failure, in addition to asserting that no one is going to buy this thing.

However, as expected, opinions are very mixed. While some people were floored by how polarizing the Tesla truck is, others fell in love at first sight.

A refundable $100 deposit is a far cry from actually forking over $40-70k for a truck that looks like a Ridgeline that got in on with one of the great pyramids

 

200k is on the low end. There's a ton more douches out there than that. It will eventually equal the number of iPhone users.

 

I think 1994 Laura Croft ordered one.

 

Several folks have posted on other sites that the body panels are just a ruse to keep Rivian and other competitors a little (lot) over confident.

 

I've wondered the same thing. I mean...they cant really try to sell that thing as-is, can they?!?

 

I gotta admit, that reservation system wound up being a stroke of genius. Even if 99% of the reservation holders asked for their refund later on, Tesla still keeps the interest.

For the single battery. 2 and 3 batteries drive up the price towards 70k

 

The Single motor ($39,900) one is RWD.
Dual ($49,900) and Tri($69,900) motor are AWD.
Add $7000 on top of that for autopilot plus whatever other trims/mods become available.

 

And....he presented "something" to keep the subsidies flowing in!

500K within a ten mile radius of Seattle ALONE. This is definitely Tesla capital of the USA.

 

Let's say I borrowed 100 bucks from you, and in six months I gave you 100 bucks back. You're happy you got the 100 bucks without fuss. But what I fail to mention is that during that six months I invested the money and got a buck or two on profit, that I now keep.

Now multiply that by 200,000. Free money, yo. It's the same reason why the IRS is so happy to have the tax refund system.

 

Not surprised at all. Many people have wanted one for a while. My nephew was on the list 2-3 years to get his Tesla sedan.
