Does that storage box in the bed stay dry?

I just got a new recovery strap and a few shackles and was thinking about putting them in a canvas bag I have and storing them in that bed box. But if they get wet and soggy, I dont think I want to do that. I guess I could put them in a plastic bag. So does it get pretty wet in there? You storage box users?

 

No. They are not waterproof.

 

All the dust in mine turns to mud on occasion.

 

Hose it and see why there are drain holes in the back of it.

I carry some light weight tie down stuff in there, like those black rubber straps that hold canvas on the load of a flatbed, and a couple of my old leather weave belts.

I don't think any of my recovery straps (30ft wheelers) would fit in the bed box. I store ratchet straps in there. The recovery straps do fit in the under seat storage in my access cab though, but I store my recovery gear and tire plug kit in a plastic tote in the bed.
