I just bought a used 2011 tacoma for my son's first vehicle. It came equipped with a Viper alarm, with the 7145v fob, and remote start. I would like to return everything to stock as I do not want the remote start feature for him, and the 2nd fob doesn't work, and I don't like the horn honking when the system arms and disarms. I would rather the toyota beep and not a horn honk. So, I haven't looked under the dash yet to see where the unit is, but I'm wondering if you could talk me through an uninstall? Is it typically a plug and play or would someone have had to cut wires to install this, then it's just a matter of me re-soldering them? Also, is it possible to simply buy toyota transmitters and to try to program them to the tacoma as is, like it's stock and to just use those without the viper features? Thank you so kindly.

Thank you so much. So, just look around in the engine bay to see if I have a part like that, then if I do, it probably beeped with the alarm? And, if not, then the horn honked with the alarm from factory, and then there is little to no point of removing the aftermarket unit if part of my goal is to stop the honk.

If you don’t have the horn/beeper in the picture. Then the truck won’t beep/honk.
My truck didn’t have the second horn/beeper. And it does NOT honk.
Only the marker lights flash when locking the doors.

If you do have the horn that honks. Unplug it:confused:
I believe it’s a different horn than the one on the steering wheel.

2011 should have the factory beeper but no telling how the aftermarket alarm system is affecting it.

Most aftermarket remote start/alarm systems I've seen are poorly installed rat nests of wires but they typically aren't terribly difficult to remove. When I remove them I just remove all the taps from the wires they spliced into, reconnect any cut wires, repair any damaged wires, and throw the rat nest in the trash.

The remotes can be programmed without any special equipment, I added the factory instructions below.

I just wanted to update everyone. I ordered two oem fibs, programmed them easily and I’m back to the stock alarm set up with the beep arming. I can now either just never use that viper alarm, or I can go underneath the steering column and just remove it. Thank you
