    hi,

my cooworker and are were trying to figure out what is spinning when you are driving down the road in 2wd. does the internals of tcase rotate when in 2wd? does the front diff spin? do the front axles spin. or does most of that just sit there untill you engage 4wd.

i would jack up the truck and mess around to find out or get more confused but i've been working for 30 days straight with no end in site.

I thought the t/fer case disengaged the drive shaft and it still spins along with the front axle? If not then how does the drive shaft disengage from the axle?

ok. seems like a waste to have all that stuff spinning in 2wd. friction and whatnot. i guess the engineers or accountants at toyota have their reasoning.
