I'm looking to purchase my first shotgun. I'm not too sure about this deal because it is brand new, so I need some advice. I found a brand new Remington 870 Express Super Mag for $329. Do you think it is a good deal? I have a week to decide, and in the meantime I will be checking out a gun show this weekend to find a used one. A friend recommended a wingmaster to me as well. Post up your thoughts!

    neglect, mostly.
no to be a smartass, but that's what they are worth. so i wouldn't say your getting a steal, but you're not getting robbed, so :notsure:
but about it being your first shotgun, great pick. awesome gun. if you didn't want that and were interested in buying another durable and quality used shotgun, mossberg 500's are great too.

    What is the barrel length?
    Is it what you need?
Short for defence or longer for bird hunting?
870 is a proven shotgun so with out knowing your use I would say you are OK on the deal.

I have the 870 Super Mag in Realtree camo and that is the same price I give for it. A co-worker has one just like it and gave almost $500 for his. I think it is a good buy, I would do it again.

If you want it, sure. I bought a pretty good shape used wingmaster 18" barrel for $150.

I think 325 is about market value now. I wouldnt pay much more for one. Express Super Mags are the best shotgun ever built, so don't pass it up. I payed $225 for mine (with a $50 rebate from bass pro).... 12yrs ago! I would recommend getting the 26in barrel all synthetic. Its lower maintance, you cant scratch it up, and the barrel length is perfect. Just get a steel & lead capable .665 extra full choke and you can kill everything!!

My all black synthetic aka The Intimidator has killed: deer, duck, goose, turkey, squirrel, rabbit, clays, hogs, snakes, alligators, bitches that talk back (my gf said to say that) and dogs. It can even paddle a boat!!!

id get it i have one and havnt had a complaint. its easy maintenance, and a sure shot. thats a top of the line gun. just shoot high quality brass, lower quality brass will expand sometimes and get jamned. but ive never had that problem.

I bought a pardner protector for 179.00 a couple of weeks ago. They get great reviews, I haven't ever heard anyone complain about them. Also, various parts from the 870 are interchangeable with the pardner pump.

Thanks for the info. There are a couple of gun shows this weekend near Seattle that I am going to go check out and see if there are any in really good shape that are pretty well priced. We'll see if my next post is a pic of my new shotgun :D
