Where is the fire? 80mph in a truck you're doing good with that mileage imo

I've averaged 16.15 in the last 19 months. I have the 2.7 with A4 and running 305/65/17's on OME 885's. I get 17-18 in the warm months and 14-15 in the cold months.

44lbs is heavier than stock, and its a rotating mass... also almost all of the extra weight over the stock size tire is at the extreme outer edge, which increases the inertia making it harder to spin up and slow down. Also agressive tread pattern makes for more rolling resistance.....

Needless to say even though its all of maybe 7 lbs over stock.... where the weight is and how it interacts with the road surface plays a huge role in mpgs.

Real world test here. Drove 650 miles the other day 325 each direction. Goin I said, just gonna haul ass, so drive 80-85 got about 15.5 (285/70/17 by the way) coming back drove 70 ( which felt like death , so slow) averaged 20.3 guess I’ll drive 70 in the slow lane.

    Same crap everyone else got
Wow that's a huge difference. And I agree, most interstate driving under 70 will feel too slow for me.

Stock and running destination AT in a 31 inch size. Get about 18 on the highway but I have to stay under 70 to do that. Instantly anything over 70 and mileage drops down to 14-16.

My stock '06 4.0 gets low 17's to upper 18's with a varying mix of highway and city driving. Mostly highway it is mid-upper 19's. I always keep it under 80 unless passing, usually 70+.

    You're fine...80mph burns fuel like crazy...unless you have a 40mph tail wind.

Sounds about right, I've seen similar numbers:

    80mph: 15.5 mpg
    70mph: 19 mpg

    2011 4.0 dclb 153k miles
    2in front/1in rear, 265/70/17 KO2s
