After I changed my winters tire/rims to all-season tire/rim setup I thought to my self, does the tire pressure sensor knows which tire is which or is it unique to each individual rim?

    The sensors are positional related.

    Well, I think that's what you're asking.

it senses the position so each tire is displayed on the dash.
if you still have the same sensors in your new wheels/tires you should have a light on the dash for TPMS unless the shop you got your tires done at did it for you.

If not you need to do the relearn process. Button is under the dash near the OBD2 port, vehicle must be stopped, hold and light will flash 3 times, once its done it should go off and then you need to drive a bit before the dash will give you a read out of PSI. Usually for about 5-10min with a speed of 50mph or higher, so just jump on the highway.
