From the Toyota Tacoma warranty book:

“This warranty covers repairs and adjustments needed to correct defects in materials or workmanship of any part supplied by Toyota, subject to the exceptions indicated under “What
Is Not Covered” on pages 14–15.”

It’s hard to argue that your engine was damaged due to a defect in material or workmanship.

Maybr, if you have a 2019 or 2020 TRD Pro with the Desert Air Intake, and you were only driving in a rain storm on road. Toyota might waranty a hydro locked engine.

I have never heard of the DAI allowing water to get into the engine.

    I’m doubtful.

Warranty no, insurance yes... and you will be at fault. Hope you have a low deductible.

Almost certainly not unless the headgasket blew.

Insurance *might* be worth it, depends on the cost of putting in a crate motor vs. your increased premiums due to the claim.

Hope you got a little spare cash hangin' around either way.

Could be, if it was a state maintained road (vs city), you had a shit ton of money to pay an attorney to hire expert witnesses who will testify that the roadway was improperly built or maintained thus causing the issue, and you have a couple of years to waste on the litigation. Let's also not forget the special rules (notification, etc) for suing a government entity. I would bet the cost of the litigation would quickly exceed what the cost is to drop a new engine in the truck. Even then, the OP would probably be assigned a percentage of the fault for driving through the damn thing in the first place.

Just drop it off at the dealer and tell them to fix it. When you go to pick it up I'm sure you'll find out if it's under warranty
