Does Your Factory Remote Start Work?

Yeah it probably worked for the 3 month trials now you have to buy into it just a gimmick. Mine came with my Premium package and still works. Of what I read it should for the next 10 years, not sure if that is bullshit or not.

 

Well I've tried it a number of time, a couple different speeds and still have not gotten the key fob to activate a Remote Start.

2020 trd pro. Works perfect from day one. Never re upped the phone app from the free version when that ran out.

 

Remote start wasn't available from the factory until 20.

 

2020 TRD Off Road. It seemed to have stopped working this year for some reason, probably because it’s been the coldest winter I can remember up here in Northwest Indiana. As someone suggested, downloaded the connect app, accepted the terms and it works again. Was going to pay the $8 because I’ve been tired of going outside and starting up my truck when it’s -11 degrees and covered in snow in the morning. All good now. TacomaWorld saves the day again!

 

Well worth the $8 IMO. I use it to warm my truck when I'm getting off work too

 

I have a 2022. I've never had the app. I didn't want to pay a subscription for a feature that should be included. The factory fob remote start works for me. It can be a PITA, but it still works for me. It takes some messing around with it and can be frustrating, but I can usually make it happen in a few attempts.

 

My 2019 has it and it still works to this day. I'm pretty sure mine was a late in the year build so maybe that's why.

 

Mine works but I pay 80.00 annually for Remote Connect so I can also start from the app remotely.

 

My 19 has it too but its aftermarket. Unless your truck has Entune 3.0, which is the new stereo with carplay, its aftermarket. It's likely a dealer add on added prior to you buying the truck.

 

In 19 did they have the push start or key start options. I know the key starts didn't have the remote start.

 

2021 Sport here...AT/DCSB.

Worked fine the first year with complimentary subscription.

Did not renew.

Remote Start still works...just had to login again since my phone/system logged me out.

Let the system monitor my driving without subscription...which scares a lot of people...or turns them off.

 

Interesting. So how would I go about verifying this? It sure does seem to function and behave exactly like the OEM remote start system.

 

Mine works just like factory too. Factory remote and hit it 3 times and it starts. I also have the cell module so I can use my phone to start it when out of fob range.

If you have this radio it's not factory remote start. The "buttons" on the side and knobs are the easiest giveaway.




It would need to look like this one to even have a chance of being factory.
