Mine works from the fob, not super reliably, but it works.

I think that for most people with a post-2018 build, for whom the key fob remote start doesn't work, are probably succumbing to user error. It is tricky to get the sequence just right.

Where did you find this at? I may give my local dealer a call and see if they have any insight.

It is for sure user error, mostly because it is not very intuitive and is kind of finnicky. My predominant issue is that I am typically attempting to use it from too far of a distance.

Remote Connect is part of Entune 3.0, and Tacoma's didn't get Entune 3.0 until the 2020 model year (other models got it in 2018/2019). But I 100% agree about user error.

Unless you live in an area where you will depend on the feature, it's really just a novelty that is easy to try a couple of times, not get the sequence right, and then say it doesn't work.

I wouldn't say I depend on it but I certainly appreciate being able to get the truck nice and warm before you get in it when it's cold.

    Good to know.

I know if I press the button too quickly it won’t work. And then it messes it up to try again for a minute or 2. Try doing it slowly, like waiting 2 seconds between each press and see if that works. It does for me.

See, I have a 2020 TRD OR with Entune 3.0, however remote connect is not a feature that was included on my truck. Pretty sure all the videos I watched and the multitudes of times I tried with the key fob would have produced a result at least once if my truck had the capability at all, especially given the fact that the aftermarket unit I installed worked on the first attempt. Just saying that it appears to be a feature that some of the new trucks were not equipped with. I am an electronics technician for work, so I fully understand the concept of just saying, oh you weren’t doing it right and writing it off as user error. The way to look at this is, if you try it 20 times after watching at least 3 videos of others doing it and it works, then great. If you try it 20 times after watching at least 3 videos and it doesn’t work, you either move on, or you spend $150-$300 to add the feature yourself.

I think I have found the clearest picture of which trucks have it vs which don't. The links for the eBrochures are at the bottom of the post. This may explain some of the confusion, but according to the eBrochure the base TRD models did not come with Remote Connect in 2020, but they do in 2021. It could also be a change like the Transmission cooler that was on the tow package where it was dropped halfway through the 2020 model year.

I lucked out then as I have the transmission cooler and if I’m being honest, I’m much more qualified to install a plug and play module than a transmission cooler.

I believe you are right. I don't have it anymore because it was installed on my old computer.
But maybe someone who has it and has a 20 or 21 can take a look

Well, I had my battery disconnected for about a half hour today whileI was wiring uup a fuse panel...and now the remote start is working. I had tried it at least a dozen times over the last 6 months and never had any luck. Maybe give that a shot if you're currently unable to get it to work.

2020 TRD OR w/ Advanced Tech Package. FOB remote start works fine. I however HATE that you can’t actually get in the truck without turning it off… only to have to start it back up again. This really diminishes the value for me.

You need some introspection. That's an extreme over-reaction to something that's at worst a minor inconvenience.

You “need” to stop telling people what they need. To state someone should self-asses his, her or their emotional well being due to a single sentence post about a sub-par remote starting feature on Tacomaworld says a lot. Talk about an extreme overreaction...
