I have a 2017 Tacoma Limited with the JBL system. Is it supposed to show text messages?

i will only show the actual text if you are not moving. otherwise, it should read them to you if you want.

My regular entune reads them while moving and shows them while stopped. It's in the settings.

Yes mine does. If you have contacts on your home screen you have to delete all of them but 1 otherwise it won’t work. I just changed my home screen so there are no contacts at all. It has been a glitch since day one. At least it iPhones.

I cannot figure out how to get it set up to show texts. Could someone please walk me through the set up? I'd really appreciate it!

Can you please explain this further? I don't understand what it is your advising. Sounds like I am missing something.

go to settings>bluetooth>click the I button by CarAccessorySystem(at least what mine shows)>and turn on show notifications and that should work. Thats how i got mine to work.
Only shows the texts on screen when stopped, When moving can read them to you if it has words and not emojis

Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else experience it reading the text message twice?
It's super annoying, and seems like it would be an easy fix. (Galaxy S7 w/stock messenger app)

only time I see that happen is when someone installs a 2nd text app and revert back to the oem app. might want to make sure your default app is set correctly or delete the 2nd app.

Did you ever get it to work?

If you are using Iphone 7-X, link your phone via bluetooth, go to your bluetooth setting and click on the blue "i", and hit show notifications. Then make sure on your home screen on your etune does not have any favorites loaded on to there (for some reason Iphones are having that glitch).

If you are using an android, I have not heard any issue with em as long as they are the latest models and compatible with Toyota's etune (there's a list of which androids are compatible somewhere here or just google it).
