So this could be a weird one. I have 2 German shepherds. I want one oversized crate to hold both in the bed of a Tacoma. Would love to find something 48 inches long and 40 wide. Anyone know of anything?

Or, Does anyone have any feedback on how to hold 2 large dogs in the bed? I'm really trying to avoid a shell.

That's huge! Good start, but id like a normal wire or plastic crate you'd see at a pet store. Just extra wide. Something I'd use to haul them camping and then remove it. I'd like to have a tonneau cover when not is use.

My dad had something similar to this that he made himself with aluminum for two hunting dogs when I was young - had a partition down the middle and two doors and vented on both sides, it was amazingly light (lighter than a normal 48 inch kennel) and he made a stand the same height as his tailgate that he kept near our dogs that he could slide it off the truck directly onto the stand and vise versa by backing up to it.

I know it doesn't help with what the OP is looking for at this point (and dads was stolen by a contractor doing work on his house several years back) but this was a stroll down memory lane.

With that said, good luck OP.

Just get two of the one dog size, cut the side out that would mate together, some zip ties and you are good to go.. then get a couple of the covers that go over them to protect them from the elements, some dog beds inside and ratchet strap them down..

You won't have much room in the bed if you get crates. That said, get two. The size needs to allow each dog to turn around in the crate.
Why two? Because even a large crate is probably too small for two large dogs. The other reason for having two is tho they may not fight otherwise, close quarters and the difficulty of being comfortable may cause a fight-nothing you can do about that in the cab.

Also, if your dogs are not crate trained, start that before getting them in the truck.

Bought the XL for my 90 lbs Weimaraner. They also have collapsible crates now, which was not available in the XL when I purchased. I recommend these because:
    1. Sturdy joints that would protect my dog if the truck ever rolled
    2. Works well for home crating
    3. I never have to worry about him escaping when I ship him (Eventually I have to leave Hawaii and he is an escape artist)
