Nice setup! Did you know that there are three sets of two holes designed to stow your rear headrests against the back of the front seats? When you stow your headrests there, they serve as grunt “bumpers” that keep puppy from slamming into the metal if you slam on your brakes.

Very cool! I like all of the ideas. I'm going to definitely take a stab at this.

I actually second this...we started going on more and more small trips, tried to get him excited to go, and eventually he went from getting sick and/or drooling everywhere to absolutely loving car rides.

I have 2 dogs. One gets extremely anxious and car sick. Even before the car is put into drive. We just taught her to throw up in a bag. She is good after that!!

For my previous Tacoma, a 2014 access cab, I removed the back seat and head rest on the drivers side and made a simple platform for my dog. Worked great! Also gave some extra storage under the platform... The passenger side seat was intact in case I needed to use it.

Bob I wish you lived nearby. I would hire you to build me a platform like that. Really looks nice.

What a good dog. I take my dog almost everywhere. He only puked once - right into the handle pocket of the door.
I just use one of those quilted back seat covers - pretty cheap from Amazon. I sure do like the platforms in this thread though.

The third gens taco back seats fold down flat, one of the reasons I went with it over a zr2 or ranger. So it’s not Subaru’s that are dog friendly and approved, its the Tacoma!

It sucks that she gets car sick, but now she is super good as warning us that she needs to throw up. And then ACTUALLY waiting for us to put a bag over her snout. It’s a wild ride from start to finish. She likes riding in the truck, it’s just unfortunate that she has to get sick.

After 8 years of use, my dog platform rug had rips, so I use a pleasant Oregon morning to re-carpet on my deck. With 8 years of dust collected, my wife was happy I worked on this project on the deck. Since the platform is rarely out of my truck, I took some pictures to show my design. The back of the platform rests to the cubby storage areas with the Access Cab seats folded up.

There are meds that the vet might be able to prescribe. I use them when my service dog gets on the plan with me. Like an anti-puke pill. Works great.
