    Any luck with this issue? I have a similar experience, but it's not exactly the same. It seems to cause a short after driving in the rain or after power wash, and it seems to short when my passenger side door opens. I will try to look through the wiring again this weekend. Super odd. Also it killed the overhead console circuit board, luckily extended warranty cover it. But now it just blowing fuses instead.

    Your wire harness is done for, which should be obvious since you can see burnt wires. I had something similar, but it was an isolated event, as I didn’t have anything attached. It was considered a “thermal” event by Toyota and required my entire harness to be replaced. Because you can see what the issue is, you know those wires are bad. You can replace the harness or splice the wires. If you’re under warranty, it may or may not be covered.

    Speculating here;
    My assumptions are that there was a power surge when you attached the wires. I’m also assuming, you didn’t disconnect the battery before attaching the puddle lights?

    Also, solving one problem at a time? You have melted wires, you have to address that FIRST. Until then, you won’t be able to verify what’s causing the other issues.

    The big red instructions were probably ignored.

    Exactly what I was thinking. Plus a 30A fuse?! They are sized accordingly for a reason. I lucked out in the dealer not just blaming my lights, clean wiring put them on my side. I’ve since added diodes just as another safety measure. My harness came to 4K! :eek:
