I noticed over the weekend that my dome light was out, or so I thought. So today I put in a new one (with the truck running) and notice that it turns off when I turn the key all the way to the off position. So I flick the key back on to ACC and the light comes back on. I check the map lights, and they do the same thing.

So far all I've done is a rudimentary check of some fuses, though that seemed pointless because they are obviously getting power, just not all the time. Other than that I'm not really sure what to check. I searched around the forum and I see there's a connection behind the driver kick panel that I may check.

    Any other ideas?

Idk but I have this problem with my dome light as I put in a led panel in there and it doesn't come on anymore unless the key is on. I'm guessing there's a resistor or some other shit needed but haven't looked into it yet. Do u know if yours are led?

I know it's an old thread, but it came up when I was searching, so here's some more info for people coming here.

The large cylinders on the back of the SuperBrightLED festoons are capacitors not resistors. Capacitors smooth out the voltage going into the circuit that drives the LEDs. They have no effect on resolving the resistance issue that is the cause of the problem with the auto-dimming circuit that is present on the 2001-2004 Tacos.
