I have noticed that my dome light eventually stops working over time. At first, I thought that it was a blown bulb, so I replaced the bulb. At the time, I should have taken the time to inspect the bulb. After replacing the bulb, the light would work for a while (weeks - months) then eventually stop working. I have not made any modifications to the electrically system, so there would be any interfere/issues caused by myself. Do you think that the contacts within the light assembly need a good cleaning? If I move the bulb around for a while, it would eventually start working. At the current time, the bulb is out, but I can't think of anything that would have caused it.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Could be a bad ground connection. The overhead dome light grounds to sheet metal via its mount. You might have re-established ground contact by jiggling the bulb, thus fooling yourself into thinking the bulb itself was the problem.
