Some questions for the more electrical savvy members on here.

Yesterday I noticed for the first time some issues with the overhead dome light. The two things that it is doing: 1. Not registering that the door has been opened and 2. Fading on and off when the light is on.

I've found a couple of relevant threads here but I'm not sure if either of them were really resolved:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/267536-problem-door-sensor.html

    A few things to note:
    1. I can't get to my fuse box at the moment (on lunch at work)
    2. Have performed overhead compass fix in the past. Compass has since failed again and randomly works for a day 3 or 4 times a year.
    3. Replaced parking lights about 2 months ago. (Have replaced all but the blinkers on the front end, but parking lights most recently; Replaced with recommended bulbs and not LED or anything)
    4. No modifications to the electrical system besides the lights on my shell being spliced into the brake line.
    5. 113,500 miles 2008

Am I missing a thread that better explains this problem/solution?

Could this be related to the compass or compass fix (failed compass fix in my case)? Though it was probably 4 years ago that I did that fix

Most likely a blown fuse or a short?

    Thanks

Well if it was a blown fuse the light wouldn't even come on. Have you checked to make sure the bulb is securely attached? Maybe it's just loose in the socket or not making a proper connection.

Funny you say that.... I had some weird issues with mine many years ago.

It would go on & off only when I made left hand turns (was in winter).

About the only thing I did, was mess around with the switches & buttons Taking the 'covers off' and pushing the buttons, tightening screws, etc. I really didn't find anything wrong or do anything major.

It's been fine ever since. :notsure:

Is the 3 position switch ( On with door, Off, On ) in the correct position?

Mine Fades on and off and they are supposed to.
