Ohms are different. If you run 100ohm resisters they still will not light up. You have run a different resistance for the 03 models

I run two 1watt 100ohm resistors on mine and it works perfect now?

I just installed the one I bought from my supplier and have no problems in my truck, or my buddy's 1st gen. Using the same LED bulb in the dome it lights up just fine. I use blue LEDs not the white ones though. Is that possibly the difference?

Yours is a 97, so as far as I know you shouldn't have any issues anyways. Only 01-04's seem to don't like the LEDs. Easy fix though by just soldering in some resistors.

OK, I wasn't sure. The thread was saying 1st gen, and I am a 1st gen. lol.

Haha yeah, kind of misleading. As far as I know it's because 01-04's have the dome light slowly fade as you close the door which is why the led's tend to flicker or not work.

On my 2004 Prerunner, I had to use 2 of the 1w resistors for it to work on the dome light, then 1 on each of the map lights...

That is exactly how it is on my 03. But I haven't put resistors in my map lights. The only time I use my map lights is when I'm in the truck with the vehicle on.

I also found out that without the your key, as long as the dome light is on then the map lights will work without resistors. Just some gee-whiz knowledge.

I got ya. I know the 3528 LEDs do not work very well with fading in and out. The 5050 LEDs work better, and most of the dome light systems use the 3528 LEDs.

The 3528 is a samsung style chip. And there is a lot going to that. The reason your using 2 100 ohm resistors in the 03 is because you need 50 ohms of resistance which is what you end up giving to the dome with 2 100 ohm resisters. That might work on the 04, but the 04 only needs one per led. And all of mine in those location are 5050 chips. Way better output in my opinion.

If you run a 50or 60ohm 1watt. And 1 100 ohm 1watt in the maps it will fix the issues without key in ignition or dome on. With dome on off it doesnt read resistance from the dome light and goes back to flickering.

Yeah I know, I had only bought two resistors at the time and I haven't felt like buying more to do the map lights haha

I bought some 2W 200 Ohm resistors but they didn't work. Then I realized they are 200K (thousand) Ohm resistors. Oops. Got some 200Ohms coming in now.

My old 2W 100 Ohm resistors burned up and took the bulb with it. Not recommended.

My map lights still work, but now my interior lights don't come on when the doors are opened, not sure what is going on, but need to get it fixed...

Are the LED's polarized? The switch is connected to ground. If they are polarized, flip the bulb around.
If no help there, then swap a regular lamp back in to eliminate the variable and start checking for power and blown fuses.

Yeah, they worked for a year or so, then the other day just stopped, haven't had time to figure out why...

100 ohms across 14v is 140ma, which is almost 2 watts.
    Personally, I'd run a 100ohm 4 watt resistor... a 1 watt will burn out.
A pair of 200 ohm 2 watt resistors would also work.

50 ohms across 14v is 280ma, which is almost 4 watts. A 1 watt won't last long at all.

I tried to install LED dome light that I had installed in my 07 FJ today and had the same issue… flickering light.

When I turned one of the other dash lights on the LED light would shine bright… So weird.

Are there any LED lights I can buy without having to solder myself? If so, can you guys point me in the right direction. Thanks

Lots of misinformation on here. You need to get resistors that match the output of the bulbs. 1 watt isn't going to cut it, that's why people end up having to solder two or more in place, and they still get extremely hot. If you get the proper resistor, you'll only need one. I used 3 watt resistors. These are matched properly and will not fail with extended usage.
