Sounds like u need a new pin/plunger switch.

This will also effect any alarm as well.

Thats what got me though is that i can open the driver side door and the door open tone with sound when the key is in the ignition but no light and the passenger side, when the door is open will do nothing. Could it be the passenger side door switch effecting the whole system?

I'm not sure if the switches are on independent circuits or not.
But the 1 switch may be throwing the whole thing outta whack.

Just look what happens when people use a single filament bulb in a brake light on some vehicles..... Sometimes it causes weird stuff like the dash lights to blink, or brighten and dim, or other odd things.

Should be a cheap test tho.... I can't see the switch costing much.

On my 2004 I had, there was a body control module built into the fuse box that controlled auto-off headlights, and other things probably. Since something happens when the door is opened on the driver's side, that switch is good. I would think it's in the fuse box/control module, but need a schematic.

It was indeed the passenger side door jam switch. What was happening was the door was not closing enough to turn the light off, in fact it wasn't even touching it at all. witched messed with my trouble shooting because I could just tap it with my finger and the light would go out. For a fix I just popped the rubber cover off and added a small metal nut to the inside of the cover, giving it length for the door to hit it.
