The spring is mine is screwed and caused the same problem. Even though the switch was on "door" it wasnt making contact. I took the lens off the light and moved the spring so it stayed on "door". Works now as long as no one touches it. haha

When you pop the lens off the dome light there is a spring that goes between the selector switch and contacts. The switch (on mine anyway) would get stuck in the spring because the spring was wore out. So even when you push the switch to "door" it wouldnt actually make contact. Essentially leaving it on "off".

If you take the lens off you can see the whole unit and take the spring completely out. Its a pretty simple system when you look at it

Pretty much the same as a spring from a pen. I have one from a pen to replace the old in the cup colder, just too lazy to put it in. haha

Where does the spring go? I was doing an LED mod today and I had to take the switch arm off and now the spring is MIA. Thanks!

Solved it, pen spring and a metal BB worked like a charm. :D
