I didn’t see the damage being done. It was already done when I went outside. I have a completely clean conscience because I did exactly that. I made damn sure he didn’t hurt any innocent bystanders. If anyone would have gotten hurt, it would have been him or I or both. But I assure you I was not allowing anyone else to be in danger. The man went to jail, no one got hurt and my truck is fixed. Win, win, win.

Im sorry to hear about your truck man, but it can be fixed, that man however is already in a world of hurt and suffering before he even met your truck and is deserving of our compassion to rehabilitate himself, not more retribution and suffering.

Thats not gonna help you, him or your truck, just perpetuates more suffering for everyone involved dude.

Wow. Maybe he’ll get a nice hug. I think he needs his ass kicked...but that’s just me.

Maybe you can show up on the court date to give the guy a hug, and let him know you’re there to support him. In fact I’ll bet he will want you to support his drug habit by smuggling some contraband into the jail. Let me know how that plays out if you show up

Compassion is not always about giving someone a hug or feeding their drug habit, and neither is giving them a beat down either. Compassion is acting humanely to remove another's cycle of suffering, including one's own, just sayin bro...

    Colorado Revised (C.R.S.) 2016

    Title 18. Criminal Code

Article 1. Provisions Applicable to Offenses Generally

Part 7. Justification and Exemptions from Criminal Responsibility

18-1-704. Use of physical force in defense of a person

    (1) Except as provided in subsections (2) and (3) of this section, a person is justified in using physical force upon another person in order to defend himself or a third person from what he reasonably believes to be the use or imminent use of unlawful physical force by that other person, and he may use a degree of force which he reasonably believes to be necessary for that purpose.

    (2) Deadly physical force may be used only if a person reasonably believes a lesser degree of force is inadequate and:

    (a) The actor has reasonable ground to believe, and does believe, that he or another person is in imminent danger of being killed or of receiving great bodily injury; or

    (b) The other person is using or reasonably appears about to use physical force against an occupant of a dwelling or business establishment while committing or attempting to commit burglary as defined in sections 18-4-202 to 18-4-204; or

    (c) The other person is committing or reasonably appears about to commit kidnapping as defined in section 18-3-301 or 18-3-302, robbery as defined in section 18-4-301 or 18-4-302, sexual assault as set forth in section 18-3-402, or in section 18-3-403 as it existed prior to July 1, 2000, or assault as defined in sections 18-3-202 and 18-3-203.
If the guy was running around like op says a chp holder would have the right to protect everybody this guy could have attacked.

Compassion isn’t what they are looking for. In fact I doubt being compassionate helps less than 3% of them recover. They are addicts. They want that high. Why do you think most can’t get the help they need until they hit rock bottom, and get treatment or for it to work until they realize they need to do it on their own terms/if ever. Only thing they want you to be compassionate about is helping them get their high, or leaving them alone. They are in a world of their own in a completely different perspective. I’m not saying you shouldn’t have feelings for people, especially family or friends who may be in that situation. I have/had family and friends in that situation. Some have had plenty of help, multiple times and chances. Usually the most effective way, if any, is tough love

The wisdom I speak is not mine, but is as old as time itself and applies to all of us, accept it or accept not. Good luck.

My Dad always said the cops are there to protect you from people like me. You should just throw yourself behind those jail bars and hope they protect you from me.

You have to keep in mind diseases that you can contact while going hand to hand with a street straggler.
