Don’t spend $200 on floor mats

I got a set of new X-Act Contours on eBay for $175, because so many folks here recommend them. I see why. Great product, the mats fit perfectly! The Husky logos also peeled off very easily.

That said... I kind of regret buying them. These are replacing a generic brand of rubber mats I got off Amazon for $20. The Husky ones do cover more and are a perfect fit. But while the Huskys are 10x more expensive, they’re not 10x better IMO. They’re just floor mats haha. After you put them in, you’ll probably never think about them again.

Some folks have dirtier jobs and hobbies. They may be worth it for them. But I don’t think they are for the average Joe.

I’m keeping them! So don’t ask haha. If you’re debating WeatherTech vs Husky, I recommend a set of generic ones for $20. Use the money on other mods. But since you’re a TW member I know you won’t don’t that... so get the Husky’s...

I've never had the weathertechs peel, etc. and have had them in my 11, 15, 16, 17 and 19. They are pricey though, but quality.

Had WT front and back in my 08. 10 years and multiple washes and they never leaked. Snow melted in them, sand when I lived in HI.. stickers never pealed once.

Kinda need pics of your floor mats to even see if it’s apples and oranges.

Yeah, that's nice and all, but when it comes time to sell your truck five years from now, when a buyer compares otherwise identical trucks, but one of which will have factory-fresh carpet, and the other one is stained and worn to hell and back, guess which truck will be sold? As a buyer, I'll pay considerably more than $200 extra for a vehicle with factory-looking carpets.

Foor liners are worth every penny over floor mats. I don’t miss the days of having soggy or mud covered carpet. The liners contain the mess or water and keep the truck much cleaner.

True quality is worth paying for. Usually skimping costs more in the long run.

I looked at some weathertechs and they don't look like they are much better than the all weather OEM ones. They don't seem to go up much, if any higher than the all weather ones I already have or am I missing something?

Everybody's in a different financial place, but when I think about all the $200 thingamabobs I bought for my truck, most of those had an all-weekend-even-though-it-was-supposed-to-be-two-hours pricetag, or maybe I had to pay someone to do it because I was too lazy. So my Weathertech* floor mats were cheap as far as I'm concerned. Bang for the buck and all.

I got the all weather mats when I bought my truck. I made it about 6 months before switching them out for Weathertechs. Much better coverage. I won't make that mistake again.

I learned that long ago. Going cheap means you buy twice.

I'll have to look at them again. They seemed very similar from what I recall.

I had weathertech(2) sets, and never more. Very hard to clean on account of the dirt/dust gets into the pores. Not very popular to go against the (2) main brands here, but go cheap or go home

I just got the Husky Act contours also. The factory Tacoma mats are pretty decent but the Husky's cover quite a bit more & go under the pedals & dash more. Now I can switch back & forth quick when they fill up!

The OEM all weather mats are not in same league as Weathertech or Husky. Coverage is not close.

Same league in the grand scheme of this thread? Yes. As good or as much coverage? No...

OP was specifically talking about cheap $20 Amazon mats being compared to WT and Huskey. Then disappeared, watching thread... but not showing said mats.

I pull mine out and pressure wash them. Never had an issue and look like new afterwards no matter how dirty they were

I would like to see pics of these X-Acts. I’m debating if I should buy some Husky’s to replace the all weather OEM’s. I have had WT in our Wrangler and now in the wife’s Explorer. I want to try out the Huskys for the Tacoma if its worth it.

All great points! I was only considering my needs, not most users here. I have a mall crawler, I never off-road, and the only dirt I get in it come from the dogs and softball. So I don’t really need the side coverage as much. I drove 20K miles with cheap mats, and my carpet still looks fine. I also work from home and live in a drier climate!

If your Taco doesn’t live in a bubble though haha, your needs will be different. And you should totally consider the pricier brands. Especially if you live in a wetter climate or off-road a lot. Like a few people mentioned, $200 isn’t much in the grand scheme of things.

I didn’t mean to knock folks who have WeatherTechs or Husky’s at all. They’re great products!

What I was ultimately trying to get at was $200 is a lot for some people. If you’re interested in some, you’ll be ok with basic mats until you can afford something better. Sorry if I got you riled up over floor liners lol.

The x-acts are Huskey. It’s some nonmentioned brand that has yet to be shown.

I have a set of Goodyear GY6204 floor mats. I paid $30. They cover the floor well but up not the sides, so I wouldn't call them 'floor liners'.
Nothing against the weathertechs etc, but for a city dweller, it's all I need.
