ive found that once you make a few transactions and establish a "reputation" of sorts, for being legitimate, the transaction time is much faster with eBay and PayPal. There might be a bit of a probationary period until you've established yourself as legitimate? I send money to friends/family when necessary and it's almost instantaneous. I imagine things get more complicated concerning "international" transactions.

I haven't sifted thru any of the posts past the first handful. Here's a tip for ANYONE selling on line to anyone. Hold shipment until you see your money in your paypal account and then transfer the payment direct to your checking account at your bank. After the money is in your BANK account take the item down to your shipping center.

Problem solved... that's how I do it. If you're selling on ebay the transactions take a lot less time, go figure. Paypal covered their ass as would you on personal transactions. The best way to get your money faster thru paypal is ask the buyer to "gift" you money. That takes paypal out of the liability equation.

I've actually done that even with ebay sales but not recommended, specially if you are the buyer, there's no recourse if you don't get what you thought you were getting.

I own property in Canada and live in the USA - the transactions take forever... I can pay and receive goods from China faster than a simple CC payment transaction from USA to Canada or visa versa. Crazy.. Thank the Queen .. she's probably got her hand in the till. Go ask Germany or France ... BOOM. Oh and every time I go to Canada and use my debit card it gets a "hold" put on it first use - even when I let the bank know I'm going up ahead of time AND I have a Canadian bank debit card!

To the OP - good luck getting paid. If it turns into a shit pile, thank the buyer.

Hard to believe someone that can afford a +$30K vehicle chumps you out of a hundy. That ain't right. There's one good thing.. it's called Karma. It can bite and bite HARD, usually when least expected. Keep it on your side and you're good. Only out a few doors, it could be a lot worse.

Because we don't all speak the same primary language. I'm used to it and I am pretty patient but it's a pain in the ass. That and Tier 1 usually sucks.

Just got back on. I humbly apologize for the erroneous "TC" reference. I was thinking "TW", but typed TC instead. The purchaser was a Tacomaworld member, but I'm hesitant to slam another Tacoma owner. But if I must . . .

There is much more to this than the OP tells.
I suspect the buyer used paypal to convert to USD and then transfer. There is an option for the user to have the credit card do the dollar conversion. No additional fees by paypal. I have a canadian credit card and purchase US items all the time. Never had this problem but part of it is your transaction history, the verified address, and having the credit card do the conversion.
Paypal will tack on a fee whenever they can. And note to canadian users, the Paypal conversion rate is TERRIBLE.

Well, unfortunately for you there is not "much" more to this than I'm telling. The TW member asked me for a shipping quote to . . . (*spoiler alert*) 58271. That is the zip code for Pembina, ND. And since the individual did not tell me he actually lives in Canada I assumed he lived within the zip code he provided. I was then provided:

    -Name-
    10597 Old Hwy 81
    Pembina, ND. 58271
    204-XXX-XXXX

Like a fool, I believed what he provided was his address. I didn't realize we were conducting this transaction in a less than honest manner so I didn't check the location of the 204 area code. I have since then, and area code 204 is used within the Canadian province of Manitoba.

I shipped the doors when I saw the funds "pending" in my PayPal account. The purchaser used a Canadian credit card (according to PayPal) on June 20, 2016, yet according to PayPal the funds from his "bank" [credit card] have not cleared, and I was advised by a PayPal customer service rep that if they don't then I am S-O-L.

I DID NOT ship the doors until I saw the funds "in" my PayPal account. The doors were confirmed as delivered on June 24, 2016, yet here we are a week later and I have not received the funds.

You may be an honest Canadian, but your fellow countryman's actions ensured I will never deal with another Canadian again.

That's a border city in North Dakota. So the buyer just wanted to avoid having to pay a tariff/customs tax. Probably crosses the border frequently or knows who lives at that address. Heck, in North Dakota maybe the buyer works in the oil fields down there!

I guess I meant there was more to the story from the purchaser's situation, and not to make blanket statement things like don't take money from Canadians via paypal. We don't have all the facts so better to find out the purchaser details.

That's all well and good. If that's is the case then good on him, but he should not have been secretive about providing the address. I'm one of those weirdos that prefers the truth over non-truth (which is what withholding the truth is).

Either way this has soured me on EVER dealing with someone not from the U.S. again. That is, unless they want to drop 100 lbs. of gold bars at my feet.
