i used to drink a bit too much before getting behind the wheel. I've grown up a bit now. Too much to loose. Plus, I now live in a town where DUI is their top priority and we have one of, if not the highest dui arrest rate in the state.

I do find myself driving home sometimes when I feel fine...unfortunately sometimes it takes a little while for the booze to affect you so you don't feel it until you are on the road. I try to avoid drinking for a couple hours before leaving a party to make a better decision about driving.

I'm glad nobody was hurt. I hope you learned the lesson. I have little sympathy, but if it happens again I'll have absolutley none.

A good friend of mine's mother was killed by a drunk driver in the middle of the f'ing day. I'm a little on the harsh side, but DUI should carry a MUCH more severe penalty than it does. A DUI accident that results in no injuries or deaths should result in a suspended license for a LONG time, and one that kills somebody should be murder. Not manslaughter... murder.

    I know I'm harsh, but that's how I feel.

I'm glad that *most* members here are anti-drinking and driving. This is the second or third thread I've seen on here where people expressed their feelings about drinking and driving.

Most of us haven't made moronic mistakes that could end the lives of others, like the lives of our family members and friends. The fact that you support this guy is despicable and ridiculous on your part. There simply is NO excuse to drive drunk. NONE.

I'm going to make an educated guess here: You're young, as in, under 25, right? And no, I don't think that ALL younger folks do stupid things like drive drunk.

your just close minded...if u can tell me that you are perfect and have never done anything to put a persons life on the line, then i will shut up. i never said i supported this guy because i dont. i dont drink and i am against drunk drivers. the guy posted here and said he learned his lesson. he didnt learn his lesson by someone telling him, instead he learned his lesson by it happening to him. all im saying is that u guys want to lecture him about shit that he obviously already knows NOW since he crashed. basically noone is perfect and some of you act like ur shit doesnt stink and noone ever says anythign to you guys. you guys love to critize people for their mistakes while ignoring shit u have done.

again i do not support this person nor am i defending what he did. all im saying is that before you guys try to lecture others, think of the shit u have done where the results could have killed someone. things as simple as speeding on the freeway.

Nah, I'd rather edit and not be brought down to your level.

Thanks for answering the age question. Now I know you're young and that proves exactly why insurance rates are higher for young folks. The fact that you don't see a problem with this dude drunk driving says it all, anyway. You should be embarassed

see now your putting words into my mouth...i dont support this guy or drunk driving. i myself do no drink. i was backing up this guy as far as you guys coming here lecturing him on shit he already knows. i myself dont lecture people since im not perfect. why would u be brought down to my level if ur the one doing the name calling? if anything i should be worried about being brought down to u YOUR level. its ok ive said what i had to say. again though, dont act like ur shit doesnt stink. if u speed, ur putting lives in danger just like this drunk driver

You are supporting him and you should be embarassed. So you think you know everyone posting in this thread? If you don't drink, that should tell you that others may not as well and, thusly, have never driven drunk.

Speeding has nothing to do with it and your attempt at changing the subject doesn't work here.

The "level" that I was referring to would be the level of someone who makes excuses for someone who drives drunk. Go look in the mirror to see that person.

Anyone who drinks and drives and anyone who supports such a thing in anyway is an IDIOT. Oh jeez, was I just namecalling? So shoot me.

i never said anything that supports him drunk driving. the speeding statement was to show that we all do shit that puts others in danger. why should u guys lecture him over drunk driving if he already knows what he did? noone lectures us over speeding.

im not making excuses for him.

again i dont support drunk driving. i hate the fact that others die and the drunk driver hardly ever dies. i am defending him against u guys trying to lecture him not defending what he did. get the facts straight before you say shit that makes me look bad when i never said i supported his actions

May favorite part about this is that we have somebody lecturing another person about not giving people lectures.

Speeding is nothing like a DUI. As a medic I can drive 40km/h over the posted limit because I've had extra training behind large vehicles that enables me to read the road, conditions and traffic better than most. Could I drive better than most DUI? Possibly. Possibly not. Would I consider it? Nope. My lively hood rests on my ability to drive. All it takes is one second and it's all over. Do I speed normally? Yes. Why? Cause I know I'm a better driver than other people and if I'm late I'll give it some gas. If I'm not then guess what. I do the limit.
Alcohol has no place behind the wheel.

I will agree, the OP doesn't need to be lectured. That takes some big balls to tell people, hey I fucked. Good on him. Bad on him for DUI.

Welcome to the internetz bro-OP opened the door....Everyone else....well...they all have opinions and they'll be sure to share.

Forums are for discussion...and in general...the "discussion" about DUI is going to be one sided....It's a bad idea and he shouldn't have done it. Good luck with your crusade to keep people from stating the obvious...
