You all have been great with any and every question, so here goes. My wife is disabled, and can stand enough to slide into the Taco pretty easy. I am curious if any of you have a 4Runner to see if the distance between the door threshold and seat are the same as a taco? The nearest Toyota Dealer is 3 hours, or I would go measure myself. Any help would be appreciated! Looking at a new/gently used 4Runner as a third vehicle for the interior space it provides for her wheelchair.

    Yeah.
My wife is out in the 4Runner right now but I can measure when she gets back if nobody else replies (2017 4Runner Limited, but same as current years). Just from recollection, they are about the same as far as seat height from the ground. The 4Runner has electric seats that can raise or lower, so that might be a plus - my wife is 5 feet tall and keeps hers raised all the way up.

@TenBeers thats would be great! Thank you!! If you can, the distance between the door edge and the seat edge if that makes sense? so her thighs hit the "door edge" of the threshold and she sits back into the seat sideways facing outwards.

I'll try to remember to check when I get home too. I also have a '17 4Runner Limited and best I remember it's about the same as my Taco from top of door seal to top of seat. My wife is short too, like 5'2 and she doesn't have problems getting in without running boards.

I love the extra interior space of the 4Runny. The ride is great too.

@ToyoTaco25 I would appreciate it! She cannot use running boards as half of her body is paralyzed and she has to just lean back and sit. My wife is 5'9 so its easy in the taco. leaning too far back to sit is the issue I am concerned about, not the height of the seat. So, if the seat is further IN from the door threshold than the Taco, it would be an issue. Thank you both!!

Oh gotcha!! So from edge of the door seal to edge of the seat. Got it now.

    Yeah.
From the edge of the door seal (outermost painted edge) to edge of the seat, I get 15 inches with the seat in a lower position than my wife drives in. Height from ground looks to be about 34 inches to the top edge of the seat. The 4Runner seats have higher side bolsters than the Tacoma. If you post some pics of the specific measurements you are looking for, I can try to get you some more specific measurements and maybe a photo.

if your not offroading you can always lower the truck or 4runner. That would allow you to reduce the required height as an option.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
I might be reading this wrong but I think what the OP is looking for is less the height of the seat and more how far it is inset in the cab of the vehicle. Like door open, measure from the outside of the rocker panel to where the edge of the seat is in relation to the Tacoma. Ultimately wanting to insure the seat is not deeper in the vehicle than the Tacoma as her range of motion needs that to sustain her balance I suspect. Just how I read it. Probably the best way to get an accurate measurement would be to use a level, ensure that is set at the edge of the rocker panel or lip where the exterior starts then make sure the bubble is centered to you confirm it is strait then the measurement from the edge of the seating surface to the leading edge of the level. I think that is what he wants. Or eyeball it.

    Yeah.
Yeah, that's why I was asking for some pics of specifically what measurement is needed so I can try to replicate. The measurement I took was with the door open, laying the tape across the top of the seat edge and the door opening kind of at an angle. Happy to take more measurements if needed.

    Yeah.
Here's some photos with measurements. These were with the seat all the way up -- it drops about an inch or so from there.
