Name the part below time. = ) Also, extra credit if you have a part number. LOL

It goes on the rear of the transmission and your slip yolk goes through it. My truck doesn't have one. Someone mentioned they help with vibrations and I get a little play in this area. Figured it would be a cheap repair.

    Thanks gang.

I wonder how a round rubber ring would minimize vibrations? Just absorbs it?

It's just a thin metal shield. Since the drive line slips in and out of the transmission, the yoke and splines need to be protected from road debris.

As far as a part #, I highly doubt Toyota sells like by itself and would likely only be available by purchasing a new drive line.

It's metal and cupped, not a solid piece.

Also, in that picture it appears the vehicles been lifted and the yoke has been pulled out from the transmission. They have spacers that bolt onto the rear differential flange to help correct that issue.

My truck does not have one at all. This picture is from someone elses truck. So I need this part. = ) I will go to the dealer today and see if I can get it. If not where else could I find one? Junk Yard? Are they all the same? One size fits all? Shesh....

    Thanks for all the help

How do I get one? My truck is missing it... Is it just a metal dust cover? It doesn't do anything for small vibrations? Can I order one from someone?

Called a guibo isolator. To dampen driveline vibration and NVH (noise, vibration, harshness). Usually bonded to and part of the driveshaft....

edit: It is probably only used on certain builds, bed lengths, cab lengths, transmission combos. Seeing one on a different truck is a poor indication "you need one", LOL. If anything be glad your truck doesn't have one...

As suspected, not available by itself, Toyota only sells it with a new complete drive shaft.

How did it go missing in the first place?

I'd say as long as you have the shield on the back of the transmission and you're not thrashing the truck in the dirt/mud you'll be ok without it.

Not knowing any of the details of the vehicle history, OP could have an aftermarket driveshaft installed on his truck.

I just bought my truck used about 6 months ago and its been missing. Its a regular drive pre runner so it doesn't see off road but once a year at the most. But I do get a little vibration in the rear and wanted to start with the cheapest parts first. = )

guibo isolator - Does not come up in a google search.... Hmmmmm

It's not that piece, so look else where. It doesn't serve any vibration/balancing/black magic purpose. It's nothing more then a stamped steel shield.

There is no Guibo Isolator/flex disks on the Tacoma's. Those are mainly used in car applications.

I'd start with checking u-joints if you think it's a drive shaft related vibration.

I have replaced all the U-Joints already. = ) And the Rear tranny mount. I have motor mounts bought that I can change but I feel the vibration in the seat so I think its tranny and back. I will do a video of the play I get in this area. I don't get any leaks from the tranny so the seal is still good back there. I have bought new shocks in the rear and new struts up front. I have had a 4 wheel alignment done by the dealer. Had the dealer look at it with a used car inspection and they said it all looked good.

Beats me. = ) I will do a video so you can see what I am thinking..

I probably spelled it wrong... LOL

There is no way it "fell off". Your trucks build did not require it, hence why it is not there. Even if it is not a true Giubo, it is a dampener; but it is tuned only to work with a certain length driveshaft, etc. Putting one on where it is not needed will likely just imbalance your driveline, then you will have REAL problems...

So its pressed on? There is another posting on here where a guys slipped out and he was concerned. Also, above, someone mentioned that you can buy spacers to keep it from slipping...

= ) Just trying to understand this little item. And junk yards usually don't have anything intact enough to ascertain much. = )

    Shesh... The mystery deepens...

If the u-joints were replaced by a shop, they probably took the shield off. It's not that big of a deal.

The spacer was mentioned because of the picture you posted, so now knowing that photo isn't yours, the spacer doesn't apply to you.
