It's so weird, you'd have thought they'd use a low budget electric winch. The price range difference should be more akin to when they compared the shock absorbers. The low truck in the shock absorbers episode had a decent bilstein 5100 set-up. If they would have done on that episode like they did with this winch one, then the low truck would've been on spacers instead.

    I wonder what's next though?

Perhaps they'll turbo or supercharge them with ebay parts vs something high quality from lcengineering?

I agree it wasn't a very fair comparison. I'm not sure the use for the come-along but the commenters seemed to state the come-along and actually have different purposes that partly overlap. One guy even said he recommends people carry both.

It was a KB Voodoo bed rack. Not sure why they went with that particular one. The reason for the gap is because it is compatible with a tonneau cover, which they don't have.

The animation at the beginning of the episodes shows what the finished products will be. Lights and roof top tents are on the way.

And I agree on the come-along not being fair. I got my Smittybilt x20 for under $400 on ebay, and I'd put it up against that warn any day. However. The lo truck doesn't have anywhere to mount a winch. And they took 4 days to build the armor they managed to build. They couldn't do a winch mount too.

Donut media has a "membership" deal that has extended versions of the episodes. About an hour long each. Definitely worth it if you enjoy the banter

I'd also like to see them do a brake upgrade comparison

Agreed, I figured they would've done spacers as well as that's super low then the come along would've made sense. But 5100s and Smittybuilt or Harbor Freight seems like a better combo for Lo truck

I don't think they'll do any engine mods, not sure the Lo comparison unless they turbo it but I've never seen a 3.4 offroad rig with a turbo

Ah I see, that makes more sense then

Only problem is I'm not sure of any besides the Tundra upgrade. Or are there really expensive Brembo kits you can get for first gens?

After the headaches they went through on the 350s I doubt they'll turbo another vehicle for hi-lo

Exactly! Both of them are currently broken. So unless they come with turbos or are NA I don't think any Hi-Lo will be changing much in that regard

They could do a cheap upgrade using used oem parts (old tundra brakes?)for low, like they did when they swapped in the e-locker. Vs something like what some companies sell as their brake upgrade kits + maybe a rear disk conversion?

Seems like it could make for a good episode considering the trucks now have bigger and heavier wheels, and the added weight from armor plus equipment.

I looked like Hi truck f'd their bumper somehow. Hopefully it's in the last episode. I did see them climbing a hill with the winch hooked to a ground anchor, I wonder if they went too far and it pulled down the bumper. :notsure:

I have to say I love these guys' content but not to be like an angry baby boomer on a facebook page who takes selfies but they really need some better tests and truck people around. Some of the comparisons and part differences are comical considering you can get some budget parts and their initial wheeling tests are kindof a joke.

And like all overlanders they over built and added too much weight. Sagging suspension, unusable beds, too heavy, horrible gas mileage. I bet they perform pretty bad on the final test compared to just suspension and tires.

So they are exactly like half the trucks on this forum. I'd say they fit right in.

If they just did tires and suspension it'd be a 2 episode series. They've literally said "we've gone too far" like half a dozen times. High truck has $45k worth of shit bolted to it, low truck has $21k bolted onto it. Wonder if they keep them or sell at the end
