2018 taco dc lb. Man this thing is driving me nuts. Seems like every time I drive it there’s a new creak or rattle. All sorts of crackling from the dash, rattling from the door, and creaking from the seat. Is this normal taco stuff? Is there a fix? May try to trade in for a second gen - I’m sure they’ll run forever but these third gens just don’t seem very well built.

    Oh look, another mod....
Dude, you've complained a lot about your truck. First your rust thread, then complaining about it "not being bullet proof", now this.

Sell the fucking truck and go find another truck (maybe a Ridgeline will make your happy?). The Tacoma's are not for you.

It’s taco or bust for me man. Just wondering if there’s good fixes, or if the third gen is really that much shittier than gen 2.

A 2 inch piece of 12 guage wire tucked between the plastic on the dash and the passenger A pillar fixed an annoying squeak for me years ago. Forgot all about it till just now...

I had rattles and removed the door panels and installed gorilla tape and sound deadening material. So far so good. The truck feels better.

I noticed temperature really effects the number of rattles and squeaks. The colder the more I have. Temperatures got much colder this week and my dash is noisy.

The cheap materials and poor assembly are my biggest complaint with this truck. I've posted before our 2009 Camry with 225K miles has less rattles and feels much more solid than my turd gen tacoma. I plan to keep this truck for a while but I won't miss it when it's time to move on.

Love the original and creative replies like “ it’s a damn truck man, they make noises”
for the price we pay for these damn trucks they could be a little quieter and feel a little more well-built. Eight going on nine Toyotas that I’ve had now, and the Tacoma is at the very bottom of the list for satisfaction, there is always something going on with his truck.

My 2018 doesn't rattle. Because if and when it does produce a rattle, I tear into it and secure whatever is rattling. 90% of the time it's either loose change, small pieces of trash, or other dirt. 10% it's something that needed tightening.

It’s a body on frame truck. It actually very quiet for a truck. At least mine is. I had a 2010 Nissan Frontier that was much louder inside . I read these posts and can’t help but wonder if some people would have been better off with a car or really something like a Ridgeline that is unibody. By the way I drove one and they are very quiet, very smooth and handle like a car. But again I wasn’t looking for that. I wanted a truck

People who get first model year vehicles should not complain. Wait until the model updates if you want something without problems. General rule of thumb for anything in life.

Interesting...mine is quiet as a church mouse. Quietest truck ever had actually.

I think the problem will be finding the source of the rattle, noise, etc. But once you do, anything wedged in there such as a piece of paper, wire, or tape will surely work. Or maybe just a screw that has worked itself loose.

I dont think little annoyances like rattles mean the truck isnt well built. I mean, they arent going to leave you stranded on the side of the road. Just saying...

Find the source, fix it, done.

Tools stuffed into my glove box rattle on bumps... Same with loose wires or when my skid came loose and I'd hit potholes.. securing things helped

That’s the thing. Seems like everyone I drive it’s coming from a new location. Appreciate the responses, but will most certainly not be getting a ridge line. Maybe just an older taco

Predator steps, TRD cat-back, lots of orange stickers.
If you think jumping into a 2015 or older will grant you a magically-rattle-free ride, you're mistaken lol. They rattle too, just in different places. I really sympathize here man, those drive me nuts as well. Lot of good non-Ridgeline advice so far on this forum. Try to remedy it.

Dumped the Tacoma, that's all it needed.
    I have had the following…

2008 Corolla - Rattle box from new.

2018 Rav4 Hybrid - Rattle box from delivery.

2022 Corolla LE - Rattle box from new.

2022 Highlander Hybrid unlimited - rattle box from new.

2023 Tacoma TRD sport - rattle box from new.

Toyota builds reliable vehicles (-ish), I don’t believe that they build quality vehicles.

Missing a ton of sound deadening, and they use plastic assembly clips that are prone to loosen up and rattle/vibrate.

Just have to go through and add sound deadening/foam to the areas that rattle, or turn the radio up a bit.

That sounds like the speaker/pillar rattle. It looks like you have some tape or other material wedged in there already. Have you tried taking the pillar trim off and insulating further? If I remember correctly, the pillar panel sits on a U-shape plastic piece that is part of the speaker cover. You might try some felt tape there and the pillar cover is really easy to remove without risking breaking clips. Good luck.

I'll give it a go, I was hesitant to take off that a pillar because theres an airbag in it.
