Hey guys, I was trying to program my new key fob when I discovered that my door control receiver is missing from the truck, a 2015 4x4 base model. As far as I can find my model should have had this as standard equipment.
My question is that if I order one from eBay, TOYOTA PN#8974104010 KEYLESS ENTRY DOOR RECEIVER will it be plug and play replacement?
Obviously I have to program the fobs but is there any other pairing such as bringing it to the stealership to make a used one work with my VIN?

Providing its the correct part it should be plug and play aside from programming the fobs to it.

I checked my 2014 base model and I have the white box - the same wire you're holding is plugged into it, so I'd assume a 2015 base would have it as well from the factory. Someone must have removed it.

Thank you, Yes that’s what I think happened. The box photo is from a YouTube video. I’ve only had this rig a couple of months and it was a fleet vehicle before so it may have been removed by the company for some odd reason.

Oh if it was a fleet vehicle then my money would be on Toyota offering that company the truck for cheaper without keyless entry and they took them up on it.

So I Contacted Tom’s Key Company that I bought my FOB from and gave them the VIN. They confirmed what you suspected.

Since this part has to do with vehicle security it MAY NEED dealer programing. So far I cannot confirm for sure.
I was hoping someone here had been through adding this or maybe needed a replacement and it would plug and play like cruise control.

I could just order it but they are a little pricey @$150 used but new is pushing $900
Given that the cost of new is so high it makes me suspect dealer programing is necessary.

Can anyone confirm this is necessary?
    Thanks in advance!

There isn't anything to program on the Door Control Reciever, its not even on the bus and can't even talk to a scan tool.

The only functions it has is programming/deleting fobs and a couple settings, all of which is done with key, door, and button sequences.

If your truck is pre-wired (which it appears to be) you plug the module in and program the fobs to it. Note that since the reciever is absent the beeper may be absent as well, this won't affect the function of the system but you won't have the beep (which some people dislike anyway).

I'll grab the procedure when I get a minute at my PC.

    Thank you for that information!!!

I guess I’ll pull the trigger on the used one and give it a go. I really appreciate the files and can bus information.

I will update this thread when I am successful so if someone else encounters a bad receiver they’ll know what it takes.

Just received the part tonight, I’ll try and install and program the FOBs tomorrow. Out of curiosity, do you know where the beep emitter is located? (for lack of a better term)

    Thanks for your help!

On the left radiator support in front of the battery.

So I installed the module and programmed the FOB per the key in/door open method and everything worked perfectly.

You are correct about missing the wireless door lock buzzer PN 89747-AC010. I found the plug neatly tied up from the factory in the location you specified. The parking lamps blink when the doors lock and that’s enough for me.

So if anyone wants to add keyless entry to a base model fleet vehicle that they have, it can be done.
I’ve added cruise control, rear-view camera, intermittent wipers, and now keyless entry. Total cost about $350. On to fog lights and other mods!

Thanks all who helped and I hope this thread helps someone else.
