I do this too, but about once a month or so, someone will park right next me, despite it being farther from the entrance and their being 25+ open spaces all around us. I am assuming that maybe they are lonely drivers that also want to keep their cars safe, but secretly want to be close to people?

I have the exact same issue and I just don't get it. Why, why, why! The same thing happens to me in restaurants. I specifically pick out a table away from anyone and the next person walking in has to sit at the closest table to me.

I sometimes get another Tacoma parking next to me in Nowhere Land of a parking lot. No dings on my door, so I think they just want to congregate in the open parking lot like we congregate here on TW.

Well, except for tall cars. I just find that trucks tend to respect trucks.

I usually go to store either very early morning or very late night to avoid morons. I don't think there is remedy for that, i saw someone literally push cart away and hit someone elses front fender for absolutely no reason.

Always park as far away in lot as possible, corner spots, crowd the outside but, then you come out and find those who could care less for others property.

Ask for a table where you can see your truck. Just look at other vehicles and see their door edges full of chips from opening on other doors.

Ditto! My people automatically start getting ready to hop out as soon as we start to pull up. Well, mostly.
