Recently the dome didn't come on when a door opens. I assume it's the switch I the dome. Then I hear that's it's not that simple. Any ideas?

your contacts in the switch are dirty.

my passenger window switch suddenly stopped working. so i took it apart, sprayed it with prep clean to get any gunk off the contacts, put it together and it began working perfectly.

It's a three position switch right: on, off, door. Does it turn on in the on position? Do you have a multimeter?

If on works, it's not the switch at the door, it's in your dome light housing. Open it up and tinker with it

If it doesn't come on with either door open, its probably in the light assembly. Mine has a little metal ball on the opposite end of the switch that completes the circuit with a spring behind it that forces the ball into position. Ive had to clean it up before.

    I mean… it’s a Ford, you don’t care
this recently happened with my truck as well. i found that the door switch was sticking, i manually pushed it in and pulled it out a few times, works fine now. i believe dust/crap gets built up in the housing causing it to stick. you can find the switch next to the door latch hoop. it looks like a black button with a rubber cover on it

its common for the contacts in the switch to get dry and develop a little corrosion, its best to rub a little grease on the metal contact bar strips and also the bulb ends and this solves the problem for good
